We were running our Trade-Off schools on the border of Thailand and Myanmar in January 2026. We were asked if, as well as our usual electrical/medical schools, we could do some songwriting. Using a translator, we ran simple prompts to help the young men get going, but we had to leave them to it to write in their own language. We had time to kill and so used it to think about the writing-prompt ourselves, ‘What was the best advice you were ever given?’ We sat on some old bits of wood with a little travel guitar and wrote this.
